"Marvelous" Jarvis Redwine appears on the cover as the Husker representative.  The cover story is titled "There's A Red Alert," alluding to the fact that every top contender (Alabama, Nebraska, Southern California, Ohio State, Houston and Florida State) wore some shade of red.  All six were unbeaten after the second week of November.  The 8-0 Huskers had just beaten 4-4 Missouri 23-20. The game ended on the Husker 11 after Missouri attempted a game-winning TD instead of a tying field goal on the last play of the game.  Of course, we all know that Scarlet is the only true BIG RED!
