Clocks

1950s??? Red Helmet Clock

Very sharp looking helmet clock that appears to be from the 1950s, though it could have been from a later era.  The reason I think the 50s is due to the color, as Nebraska wore red helmets until Coach Devaney took over in 1962. The Huskers wore red helmets with a gray face mask from 1957 through 1961, although this clock has a white mask.  Anyone out there have any more info to share on this one?

Not mine.

1950s??? Red Helmet Clock

Another one very similar to the previous, but with "GO BIG RED" added to the top and more traditional clock hands. A little dusty, but you get the picture!

Not mine.

MClock_1960s.jpg (142363 bytes)

1960s Flying Ear of Corn Clock

This one is a bit of a mystery as to when it was released.  Appears to be from the 1960s or so but has no markings to tell.  Anyone have info on this one?

Thanks to Cory Johnson for the photo and info

1960s Bell Alarm Clock

Featuring Harry Husker

Another nice Harry Husker memorabilia item. Harry took over as the official mascot in the early 1960s following the start of the Devaney era, replaced in the early 1970s at the start of the Osborne era.

Finally have one.

MClock_1970NationalChamps.jpg (96535 bytes)

1970 National Championship Clock

This beauty measures 12" x12" and is made out of a lightweight metal similar to the 1970 and 1971 team wooden plaques. Lower right-hand corner states that it was made by SWIMCO. The NU-LSU score is listed incorrectly as 17-11 at the 12 o'clock position (click inset below).

1970 Big Eight Conference

Standing Harry Husker  Clock #1

This is the predecessor to the following 1970-1971 NC clocks, with small differences in the face design. Note the "Big Eight" logo under Harry Husker's feet and no mention of "Number 1" anywhere on the clock.   The "N" logo at the 12 o'clock has a small Big 8 logo in the upper right corner.  Measures 12" by 12", made by by DECOR Accessories, Inc.

1970 "We're No. 1" Mean Faced

Running Harry Clock #1

This is a "mean faced" Running Harry clock from 1970. It was most likely made in 1970 prior to the season with "No. 1" referring to the 1969 tie for first in the Big 8, or hopes for being No. 1 in 1970.  The U superimposed over the N at 12 o'clock may support that, as NU changed helmet stickers from NU to just N in 1970.  This one features football players in the UR and LL corners with single point pennants instead of double points like the others, and different team mascot logos in other positions.  Also by DECOR Accessories, Inc.

1970 "We're No. 1" Mean Faced

Running Harry Clock #2

Another version of the "mean faced" Running Harry clock above with slight differences. This one features basketball players in the UR and LL corners with double pointed pennants at TL, and is missing the 'halo' around the NU at the 12 o'clock position.  Probably a second version supporting Husker Basketball.  The previous football version as the artist's name "Bill McClanahan" in the player logo on the bottom, this one does not.  Also by DECOR Accessories, Inc. Photo of the box located here.

1970  National Champions

Running Harry Clock

Here is yet another version, but from 1971 that features a "happy faced" Running Harry on the face to commemorate the 1970 National Championship. Notice the style and locations of the mascots on thise one are identical to the Standing Harry versions above, but the 6 o'clock position has a "National Champions 1970" logo that leaves out 1971 (hadn't happened yet).

Thanks to Cory Johnson for the pic and info

Mid City Bank Helmet Clock

This clock was made by Creative Leisures of Jacksonville, FL put out by Mid City Bank of Omaha.  No idea what the date of issue was on this one.  The number markers are furniture tacks.

Update: According to Hail Varsity's Husker Attic feature from February 28, 2016 Mid City Bank was established on South 42nd Street in Omaha in 1965.

MClock_1960sFootballTable.jpg (152183 bytes)

Sessions Football Table Clock

Seems to have been made in the early 1960s or maybe even earlier judging from the block "NEBRASKA U" on the bottom. Face is marked "Sessions" just above the six. A view of the back below (click to enlarge).  Thanks to Mike Whitley for the photos.

MClock_1973-95_25years.jpg (189786 bytes)

"25 Years of Dominance" 1973-1997

This one was put out in 1998 following Coach Osborne's final season after 25 years as Head Coach. Features a very nice photo of the stadium as it looked prior to the renovation that enlarged the North and West Stadium. Measures 16" wide by 13" high with an open clock face (no glass).

MClock_StadiumAlarm1.jpg (197168 bytes) MClock_StadiumAlarm2.jpg (124226 bytes)

Lamps

1930s Pennant Table Lamp

This is an awesome glass based table lamp from the 1930s.  The shade measures 6" across at the top, 11" across at the bottom and features a University of Nebraska pennant.

Not mine. Thanks to Bob Ihrig for the photo and information.

1960s Lamp Bulb

I'm guessing that this bulb is from the 1960s based on the style of lettering, although it may be older. If anyone has any information, please share and I'll update the description here.

Not mine. Thanks to Dave Brown for the photo.

1970-71 Lamp Bulb

The light bulb itself is a bit odd shaped, which adds to its uniqueness. The filament inside the bulb is formed in a pattern to commemorate the back to back National Championships of 1970 and 1971.

It is thought that Lawlor's Sporting Goods in Lincoln ordered the special bulbs from Luxor Lighting Products.  Some may have come with wood blocks for display purposes.  These were sold as working bulbs, as shown in the photo.

Not mine. Thanks to Bob Ihrig for the information.

1970-71 Big 8 Helmets Lamp

Unique lamp featuring the Lawlor's bulb above set in the middle of a collection of Big 8 Conference bubble gum machine sized helmets, and a second desk sized version with a taller stick and red shade adorned with the N. These helmets may also be from the college helmet checkers set. In either case, not sure if these are a set of customized lamps, or one of a small set of lamps.

Not mine. Thanks to David Brown and Chad Maun for the photos and info.

Not mine. Thanks to Bob Benton for the photos.

MLamp_1970sHerbieBulb2.jpg (121006 bytes)

1969-1970 NU Table Lamp

I'm guessing the time period to be 1969 or 1970, as this is the cross-over between using "NU" to the single "N" on the side of the Cornhusker helmets, though the sides on this lamp are "UN" - just the reverse of what was used 1967-1969. It stands around 15" tall, with holes on the top and the back of the base for a cord and top.  Thanks to Dave Brown for the contribution.

1970s Child's Table Lamp

Very nice child's night light table lamp. Likely early 1970s due to the red helmet design. Stands 9-1/2" tall. Click the thumb below to see it in action.

thanks to Chad Maun for the photo & info.

MLamp_1970sChildsTable2.jpg (31028 bytes)

1970s Child's Snoopy Table Lamp

Another nice child's lamp similar to the one above, with a Big Red Snoopy on the side. Stands 10" tall.

thanks to Dave Brown for the photo & info.

MLamp_1970s_GOBIGRED_77.jpg (161991 bytes)

1970s Ceramic "GO BIG RED" Player Table Lamp

Quite a unique ceramic table lamp that I am assuming dates to 1977 based on the jersey number only. Green felt on the bottom with no dates or manufacturer markings.  It stands 12-1/2" tall.  I found him with no lamp parts or shade, just his original cord. If anyone has any info please share

MLamp_1970-71.jpg (257616 bytes)

1970-71 "No 1" Table Lamp

Iconic brown leather color table lamp. Football is approximately 10" wide with raised letters. Very similar to the night light lamps here in the ceramic section.

MLamp_1970sHerbie.jpg (63548 bytes)

1970/80s Herbie Red Telephone Table Lamp

This appears to be a "professionally" made lamp judging by the workmanship and parts used. The telephone handset is a red molded original (not painted) and attachment points are perfectly smooth (not hand drilled).  The shade is 8" tall, 9" diameter at the base.  Solid pine base is just over 7" square.

I found a second version of this lamp at a local antique mall as shown below.  Same designe and specs, with white and red telephone handset and round Herbie Husker logo like the helmet lamp below.

MLamp_1970sHerbiePhone2.jpg (218756 bytes)

1980s Herbie Helmet Table Lamp

Riddle solved!  This lamp is marked "Big Sur, Farnham St, Omaha, NE 68102" on the bottom. The mini helmet is not quite replica quality like Schutte or Riddell.  Football field base with the added touch of the Herbie logo on the shade makes it a nice piece.  Could also be from the 1990s.

MLamp_Helmet_Herbie_bottom.jpg (116647 bytes)

MLamp_Devaney_era_Bank.jpg (172350 bytes)

1970s Harry Bank Table Lamp

Another of a line of customized table lamps, this one using a 1970s Harry Husker Bank like the one posted here. Same shade, with a plaque (shown below) commemorating the career of Coach Bob Devaney form 1962-1972, including Big 8 Championships, National Championships, individual player awards, and career record at Nebraska. These are special lamps, indeed!

Not mine, thanks to Dan Wagner!

MLamp_Devaney_era.jpg (89020 bytes)

Devaney Era Helmet Table Lamp

Here are a pair of table lamps from the Devaney era, as evidenced by the helmet style from around 1971-1971, and the same plaque as on the previous lamp. Many items were put out at this time with the "new" helmet style and to celebrate the back to back National Championships.

Not mine, thanks to Dan Wagner!

MLamp_Devaney_era2.jpg (69207 bytes)

MLamp_Devaney_era_hanging.jpg (115439 bytes)

Devaney Era Helmet Hanging Lamp

Same helmet, different lamp.  This one is of the hanging variety.

MLamp_Devaney_era_hanging2.jpg (109535 bytes)

Huskers "N" Table Lamp

This one is the table and the lamp! May be a one of a kind or part of a run, not sure of the time period.  Very nice table lamp set, looks to be about 18" in diameter.

Not mine, thanks to Cory Johnson!

Football Mug Lamp?

I have to think that this is a one of a kind item made by someone from their personal collection.  The red mug is a plastic lidded stein of sorts, such as those found here.  Would definitely take a small lamp shade!

Not mine.

    MLamp_1980s_Glass.jpg (57334 bytes)

Late 1980s or early 1990s Logo Lamp

I have to think that this is a one of a kind item made by someone from their personal collection.  The red mug is a plastic lidded stein of sorts, such as those found here.  Would definitely take a small lamp shade!

Not mine.

Telephones

1973 Candlestick Telephone

A couple of versions of a candlestick telephone dated 1973 on the bottom. Stands 12" tall. Thanks to Arnold Remington for the white phone.

MTelephone_1970sCar1.jpg (30980 bytes)

MTelephone_1970sCar2.jpg (36246 bytes)

1970s Sports Car Telephone

Not sure if this is late 70s or early 80s. Pretty neat little "car phone" for the rabid Husker fan.

Thanks to Cory Johnson for the photos.

MTelephone_1970sCar3.jpg (36042 bytes)

MTelephone_1970sHerbie.jpg (48442 bytes)

1970s Herbie Husker Telephone

Likely a mid to late-1970s telephone featuring Herbie Husker above the key pad.
