This is a series of promotional season schedule tokens/coins put out by Meadow Gold
Dairy in Lincoln. They were issued from 1982 through 2009. The run
ended after 2009 when the Lincoln plant was closed and combined production and
distribution with Land O Lakes out of LeMars, IA.
The coins
measure 1-1/2" wide with a knurled edge similar to a new quarter.
They appear to be made of aluminum, so are extremely light weight. Each
one features a face design based on the Meadow Gold logo and the
Nebraska Cornhuskers. The back side features the schedule for the
upcoming season, hence no scores or bowl game information. The color varies by year as
well, from silver, dull pewter, red, and gold.
They may not be made of
precious metal, but they make great dated collectibles for the collection. The
scans below may look a bit dull due to scanner reflection, but all coins
actually have a good sheen to them. Click the thumbnails for larger
views. Still looking for 1987, 1990, and 1993. Happen to have a spare?
I have a few extras that I can use to trade if you do.
