The Devaney Era Medallion
This coin commemorates Coach Bob Devaney's outstanding accomplishments as Head Coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. It is 2-3/4" in diameter, mounted on a 2" x 3" x 1" walnut base. Very attractive, very well worth the investment.
The front features a bust of Coach Devaney surrounded by images representing some of his achievements and Nebraska's Great icons, such as Memorial Stadium, Bob Devaney Sports Center, Jeff Kinney, Johnny Rodgers, and Jerry Tagge. It is finished off at the bottom with "University of Nebraska Football 1962-1972"
The back is a fitting tribute to a great coach with a great career record at Nebraska. The top lists NU's Big 8 Championships under Devaney: '62, '64, '65, '66, '69-'72 (some years were ties). Next are three images of Wayne Meylan, Larry Jacobson, and Rich Glover, with images of Devaney's assistant coaches underneath. On the left is the 1971 season record. Completing the tribute is a listing of Coach Devaney's coaching honors, followed by "National Champions 1970 & 1971"
